Makes sense. The information is here if and when the time comes to implement this. Your input is certainly welcome. Most of the advances here come from people asking "What if..."

@kuroguy - do you also have an KuroHG? will the UBoot that you compiled for me ( u-boot-hg.davy_gravy.bin ) Li. St. 2.1.0, I think, work on my kuroHG? I currently have the Uboot from the KBF installed. It works fine, but I am thinking that I really like the miniconsole feature.

Maybe, just maybe I was thinking of just flashing mindbender's latest v3 firmimg.bin to the KuroHG, as well. Is that workable? (maybe you've done this already?)

i see no reason why it shouldn`t work.

guess why i am stating that it is a "universal firmimg.bin" ?

if you have a working /boot/vmlinux.UBoot on your hdd then you have a safety net.

but i think it will just work. i am sure about that.

same goes for UBoot.
but wait until kuroguy tells that.

EDITED

Davy_Gravy,
The versions of u-boot for the LS1 and LS-HG are different. [b:bc765]The LS-HG version will also work on the Kuro-HG and the version for the LS1 will also work on the Kuro.[/b:bc765] They are not interchangeable. Doing so will create a Brick that will require JTAG to repair.

Of course, I happen to know a bit about JTAG. Read my signature. :)

OK - Kuro HG <-> LS-HG UBoot interchange is OK, right? The one you brewed for me was for my HG (I should have noted that in the previous post).

cuz, that's what I got...

I can't disagree with that! :)

but for the firmimg.bin, it's a ppc LS&Kuro thing, right? (ppc applying to both Kuro & LS - excluding the mips LS2)

Do I read this correctly?

1) there is a difference in the hardware between the LS1/Kuro and the HG/kuroHG...thats why there is a difference between the UBoot binary. UBoot is more hardware related because it is a bootloader.
the LS1 version works on the Kurobox, the HG Version works on the KuroHG

2) the firmimg.bin does not have any problems with ANY box. the kernel got patched by linuxnotincluded that it supports all ppc-boxes (LS1/HG/HS/Kuro/KuroHG).

only the right UBoot image has to be chosen.

@mindbender: i like the new EM firming splash screen. Have you now got the busybox init process fixed?
After more than a year... I had never logged in to EM mode using Linux to your EM image... I had always used the Terminal.app and other similar term programs in OS X...
Using Terminal in Gnome (gentoo) today... finally I see it...

One more (though smallish) reason that Linux is good...
