Has anyone installed Debian Jessie on their KuroBox and/or upgraded their kernel to 4.x?

I was able to successfully compile the 4.1.2 kernel starting with Stonie's 3.4 .config file and adding support for CONFIG_FHANDLE and CONFIG_DEVTMPFS as needed by the newer versions of udev.

However, upgrading to Debian Jessie (from Stonie's Debian Wheezy tarball) works after configuring /etc/apt/sources.list for jessie and going an "apt-get upgrade". But when I complete an "apt-get dist-upgrade" everything appears to install but upon rebooting the KuroBox does not boot into the OS.

Am I forgetting something simple? Am I missing a required kernel module for Jessie? Is there a log I could share that might help shed some light?

Is there a better way to install Debian Jessie on the KuroBox?

Jason

I have 4.2.1 running on a LS1 with stretch. I did migrate up through the 3's with a new save from menuconfig at each recompile so I don't have a history. Samba, Apache2, pptpd, udev, fail2ban, and nptd all seem to be behaving properly.

My only problems are with reboot and halt. Issuing them shuts down the network, but the power and net lights stay on and no power down occurs. However, issuing reboot and power down from foonas in em works as designed.

I finally was able to get back to this, compiled the 4.4.5 kernel, and upgraded to Jessie. I believe I may have missed a kernel requirement for udev when I compiled the kernel previously. I started with the .config file from Stonie. Here's a complete list for udev requirements:

General setup --->
[*] Configure standard kernel features (expert users) --->
[ ] Enable deprecated sysfs features to support old userspace tools
[*] Enable signalfd() system call
Enable the block layer --->
[*] Block layer SG support v4
Networking support --->
Networking options --->
<*> Unix domain sockets
Device Drivers --->
Generic Driver Options --->
() path to uevent helper
[*] Maintain a devtmpfs filesystem to mount at /dev
< > ATA/ATAPI/MFM/RLL support (DEPRECATED) --->
File systems --->
[*] Inotify support for userspace
Pseudo filesystems --->
[*] /proc file system support
[*] sysfs file system support
