Hi Guys - some info which may or may not be useful.

I got a new LS421 DE and fitted it with a drive from an old LS Live - unit booted in EM mode and requested firmware. I put stock V 1.80 firmware on and tried to format the drive. For some reason the drive refuses to format, I blame the drive.

However I've no other drive to try unless I wipe my older LS WXL to try the disks.

Anyhow - I used ACP Commander win 1.5.6.0 to detect the unit - it said it had enabled SSH and changed the password but no access. However testing the command line utility on ACP Commander I could ls-la and move around the structure, even locating sshd but no joy getting to start.

I tried starting telnetd but no joy until I realised there is not telnetd shortcut. However busybox in the stock firmware contains telnetd so running "busybox telnetd" from ACP Commander has got me telnet access (login with admin and normal web admin password)

Then I find I can't su - there's an su binary in /bin but get "permission denied" trying to access - not sure yet what the binary is - will need to investigate however using busybox again saves the day "busybox su" gets me in at root. Password is the one set by ACP Commander

I've created a telnetd link "ln -s /bin/busybox /usr/sbin/telnetd" so I can easily restart telnet daemon..
I'm off now to work out why SSH didn't start.

Hello,

I have problems with activating ssh...

system LS421DE (LS421DEF6E) Version 1.34-0.95
download acp_commander.jar version 1.56-2

admin password is "admin", I can authenticate with it using WEB...

but any call jar file looks like this

Code:
$ java -jar acp_commander.jar -t 192.168.100.119 -ip 192.168.100.119 -pw admin -c "chmod 0755 /etc/init.d/sshd.sh"
ACP_commander out of the nas-central.org (linkstationwiki.net) project.
Used to send ACP-commands to Buffalo linkstation(R) LS-PRO.

WARNING: This is experimental software that might brick your linkstation!

Using random connID value = 9A2AE226D214

Please note, that the current support for the change of the IP is currently very rudimentary.
The IP has been set to the given, fixed IP, however DNS and gateway have not been set. Use the WebGUI to make appropriate settings.

so, can't make it works...
any ideas?
