The box will NOT recover by itself, if you just put a new disk
into the tray.
You will need to go the "TFTP" recovery way, which means to
start a TFTP server on your PC serving the matching firmware
for the box, connect the box via a router to the PC and THEN
do the "press the button" trick.
Without a TFTP server serving a matching firmware and without
a router (which has to act as a DHCP server) you will NOT be
able to recover a LS.
There are several guides for TFTP recoverage of Kirkwood based
boxes (like the LS-VL is). You can take ANY of the Kirkwood
based box guides (LS-VL, LS-XHL, LS-WVL, LS-WXL, ...).
The NasNavigator is a "click helper" for dummies. You do not need
this app for using the box. EVERY operating system will work out
of the box with any of the Buffalo boxes by using simply the OS
way to access network storage.
