iptables is not supported by the kernel (FW 1.63 Mod1)

Code:
root@Nas:~# ipkg install iptables
Installing iptables (1.4.10-1) to root...
Downloading http://ipkg.nslu2-linux.org/feeds/optware/cs08q1armel/cross/stable/iptables_1.4.10-1_arm.ipk
Configuring iptables
Successfully terminated.
root@Nas:~#
root@Nas:~#  modprobe iptables
FATAL: Module iptables not found.
root@Nas:~#  tc qdisc add dev eth1 root handle 1: htb default 14
RTNETLINK answers: Operation not supported
root@Nas:~#
root@Nas:~# iptables -L
FATAL: Module ip_tables not found.
iptables v1.4.10: can't initialize iptables table `filter': iptables who? (do you need to insmod?)
Perhaps iptables or your kernel needs to be upgraded.
root@Nas:~#

Interesting... Does your router need to be configured also? or is at the NAS enough?

Some reading: http://www.funtoo.org/wiki/Traffic_Control

looks like you will need to recompile your kernel either way... ?

Thank you.
I am interested in kernel with iptables support.

But you know there are no sources for the actual kernel at the moment.

AFAIK kernel src _is_ available?

http://opensource.buffalo.jp/ls-x-140.html
http://buffalo.jp/php/los.php?to=gpl/st ... .8.tar.bz2

Out of interest I diffed the buffalo kernel with the vanilla kernel of the same version.
They have made significant changes, but you should be able to wade through it if you know C.

Here is the diff report (file names only for brevity)
http://downloads.buffalo.nas-central.or ... .31.8.html

And some tips from Kenatonline: http://buffalo.nas-central.org/wiki/Bui ... los_source

There are some patches around for building a vanilla kernel on the forums... once you have debbootstrap installed. that might be a better route?

Dear oxygen8

I am looking forward to run the MoBlock on my NAS LS-WXL. However I am not able to reach the sucsess due of error:
"FATAL: Module ip_tables not found.".

The MoBlock required to have iptables installed. Looks like my kernel does not support ip_tables. I can see you was looking for similar issue. Have you reach the success?

I need MoBlock to filter Anti P2P organizations. Otherwise use of built in bittorrent does not make any sense.
Any other ideas how I can go around this problem?

Thank you in advance for support
