Post subject:  WD Red NAS HDD

Hello,
I have a LS-WVL/R1 running a raid 1 config. with 2 Samsung HD103SI 1tb drives.
Drive #1 is showing bad sectors and I'm getting a message to replace ASAP.
I'm looking at upgrading both drives to WD Red 3TB NAS Hard Disk Drive.
I'm looking to find out if it's compatible with my Buffalo LinkStation.
I know I won't get the benefit of the faster speed that comes with SATA III (7200), I'll only be spinning at 5400.
But I'm interested in getting drives that are optimized for the NAS environment.

Any help is appreciated.

David

LS-WVL has a maximum Speed of 70MB/s

the new WD Red is faster

In this Kirkwood- mashine you can use every SATA drive.
The maximum size for one share is 16TB

So... What you're saying is that it will function but just not as fast as the WD Red is designed for?

Yes, this cheap nas is slower than one drive.
