So recently, my quad pro decided after a poweroff that it did not want to power on again (launches, got as far as "eth0 up" in messages, but never appeared on the network). Box is/was running wheezy with no RAID.

To try fix this, I decided to reinstall the firmware (boot, kernel, initrd, rootfs). As I had it available, I gave 1.69-mod1 a whirl. Now it will launch (and on a blank disk will create the folders + run), but it will no longer boot wheezy. No matter I thought, I'll just downgrade to 1.65-mod1a again and that should sort it. In all cases, "Force Update" is selected.

Problem is, either with 1.65-mod1a standard, or my version (with a wheezy hddrootfs.buffalo.updated), it still comes up as 1.69 and does not appear to downgrade.

Can anyone make any suggestions where to go from here please? I could in theory use stock, shonks or junweidev, but as these seem to wipe new harddrives when you connect them that's not a viable option!
