Hi – I have a Linkstation LS-WXL which has given me good service over the years. Several years ago I upgraded this to use 3TB drives and that went smoothly.

A few weeks ago I got an error message indicating Drive 2 had failed. After checking the basics I purchased a new drive of the same type and plugged it in and it still gives the error. I have since tried resetting the unit to factory defaults and updating the firmware but I get the same error. Drive 2 has failed and it won’t allow me to reformat or scan that disk. I tried swapping drive 1 for drive 2 and the error is still that Drive 2 has failed.

What is my next step here? Suggestions?

Paul

Try flashing the firmware with all debug-options.

Thanks - I'll try that but how do I get that Debug screen up? Is that a program I download? Also with so many dubious sites out there, where do I download the correct firmware?

The link navigator is currently indicating I am running v1.73 (DTCP-IP:1.65-20130731)

OK, thanks for the quick and clear directions. I downloaded the LS Updater program, made the changes to the ini file, checked the boxes and turned on debug mode. The program ran and scanned/formatted the disks but when it rebooted, the red error light flashes six times. The linkstation no longer appears in the NAS Navigator or LS Updater programs so I cannot re-run it or identify what the problem is.

Any suggestions for the next steps?

Paul
