As predicted, when I came home from work the NAS was again endlessly rebooting.
I went to check /var/log/dmesg through another computer, and then I noticed something strange.. It's identical to the previous dmesg!
So I went on checking, and at the third line it struck me:
Linux version 3.3.4-88f6281 (email@example.com) (gcc version 4.2.0 20070413 (prerelease)) #2 Mon Dec 10 17:31:41 JST 2012
From the looks of it, I am booting a 3.3.4 (same as mine at last try), but this kernel has been compiled in 2012..
Here you can see both logs: first
. When I look at the 'date modified' of /var/log/dmesg, it is March 15th 2013 at around 9pm.. The time I reinstalled the stock firmware again. I am totally lost!
I installed the kernel like here
(same pastebin link as last post), but it is somehow still booting the old kernel?!
edit: Just some thoughts: The NAS has two partitions that start with LS-WVL-EM077, this looks like it's in EM. Maybe the NAS replaces the kernel with a special 'EM' kernel when it goes into EM?
edit2: Nope, the uImage.buffalo still has a timestamp from this morning when I installed it.
I think I am doing something wrong with the compiling or installation. Can you check whether I am doing this right?
Oh and btw, I used kernel 3.3.4 last time, and patch6 gave no error!
