I just changed the 1TB-HDD from my LS-CH[1.0T]L (also Seagate) to a Seagate ST2000DM001 2TB-Drive.

I got it TFTP'd, then installed the Firmware 1.69 Mod1 from 'Shonk' (which was installed on the 1TB-HDD before, too) and made a test...

Before I had put the new HDD into the case, I 'low level formatted' it with 'LLF Tool 4.40'. It showed the drive as 512Byte-Sector, but I assume it is one of those 4K-Sector-drives... (if that makes any difference).

The transfer-speed is very low... Even when the HDD is freshly formatted, it doesn't exceed ~18MB/s, whereas the 1TB-HDD gave me ~60MB/s.
The 1TB-HDD actually is capable of ~110-130MB's and the 2TB-HDD ~180-200MB/s.

So what causes it to be so slow? Any ideas, how I can fix that issue?

Your nas can use 4096 bytes per sector.

This is not possible.
Which tool do you use?

Try Atto

XFS creates the structure on the fly.
Maybe this is running.
Test again.

A wrong formatted disk can be very slow.
Du you start with a partitionfree disk?
Do not use a clone from your old disk!

How? Can I LLF it with 4K-Sectors (physical) in any way? ...and then use 8K-Sectors in XFS?

Are you sure? It ran about 400MBit/s (50MB/s, to be more exact around 56MB/s) continuous before... I did however made some optimizations before (deactivating DLNA, etc.) and some stuff I've read here and elsewhere.

However... Even thou... It should atleast have higher rates than now... It sometimes crawls at 3-4MB/s...

THX, will try it! :)

I am not sure, what you mean by that.

What should I test again? Speed of the NAS, with the app you've mentioned?

Yepp, I've read that. That's why I mentioned the stuff I thought would be noteworthy. ;)

Well, I LLF'd the HDD on my PC with 'Low Level Format Tool 4.40' and then put the blank HDD into the Nas.
6 times red-LED-blinking, started TFTP and the Updater (Shonk 1.69 Mod1) and then installed the firmware... The thing works, but it is fresh and has jumps between 3MB/s and 18MB/s...

The HDD I am reading from and the PC in general is fast enough.
The HDD I am copying from neither has the files compressed (but tried that too), nor fragmented.

I haven't done that. ;)

Edit: Ah,... Yeah, a free disk wich was low level formatted before. ;)

Sorry for double-post.
I would have edited my previous one, but I guess it awaits moderation..

First off,... You didn't approved the previous post, which contained a sh*t-load of information. Would be nice if you (or anyone else for that matter) can unlock that one too, so others might be able to help me too.

I did downloaded this program already, but it only shows the speed from an HDD which I internally have in my PC, doesn't it?

Aaaaaah! Thank you, that explains it! :)

I guess, that is what you linked to?!

O.k., I will make a test with it later, once I tried the other 'Custom Firmware' (for feature-reasons, not speed), where you wrote a tutorial about (the Transmission-Thread).
I will post the picture, once I did that!

Thanks for clarifying that and for unlocking the other post. ;)
