Hello.
Hoping for a bit of help.
I have brought a Buffalo LS-CHL V2 and I want to install squid proxy on it.
I have been searching the net for the last 2 days and found a few posts on it but i'm stuck at enabling telnet on it.
It is running 1.60 firmware.
what what I understand I need to follow this post http://buffalo.nas-central.org/wiki/Ope ... are_LS-XHL
Haven't had any luck yet.
Do I need to disable the DHCP service on the NAS first or leave it turned on?
Can I do it from windows 7 or do I need Linux?
Do I have to telnet in at boot up or need to press anything at a set time?
Sorry if I sound dumb, I do have a little bit of basic understand standing of telnet, have used it to debrick a buffalo router before, but that's about all.
Have a Ubuntu box running squid at the minute so do know the basics of driving Linux.
Just hoping to get squid running on my NAS so I don't need a big old desktop tower sitting around.
Saw a post about putting Debian Linux on this box, would this be a better option for running squid?
Thank you for any help you can offer a newbe.
Peter.

Sorry to be a bother but I'm stuck again.
Worked out all the problems with squid 2.7 but now when I start it, it don't seem to start

bash-3.2# squid -k parse
bash-3.2# squid -z
2015/01/09 23:43:08| Creating Swap Directories
bash-3.2# /opt/etc/init.d/S80squid start
Starting proxy server: done.
done.
bash-3.2# /opt/etc/init.d/S80squid stop
Stopping proxy server: squid: ERROR: No running copy
done.
bash-3.2#

as you can see it seems to start okay
but when I tell it to stop it said its not running.
I try and connect to the net after starting it and it will not connect.
