I have an LS-CHL V250 which is now flashing amber instead of blue, one long, one short, which I think signifies a fan fault.

I have 2 thoughts.

1. replace the fan, if possible, has anyone done this successfully ?
2. buy a new buffalo nas enclosure, eg Buffalo LinkStation 421E, and if I do this, can i simply slot the existing drive without reformatting ?

thanks for any advice

Does it still boot up? I had it running with the fan unplugged all time without problems.

yes, it still boots, though it has been inacessible on the network a couple of times.

As it is a single drive, with no redundancy, I didn't want totake any risks

I thought if I get the dual drive enclosure, I could add another disk and mirror, ?
