Hi,

My Linkstation kept flashing blue and did not appear on NasNavigator2 or my network so after reading for solutions I tried EM and followed the instructions here:

http://forums.buffalotech.com/index.php?topic=10182.0

"LS-CHL and : The FUNCTION button will start blinking at which point you release the button and hold it down for an additional 10 seconds or until the FUNCTION button goes solid. At this point you may release the FUNCTION button"

The above step does not actually happen - Function button never appears to go solid and continues to flash blue kist as the other light does.

My priority is to recover data so I would happily lose all settings etc, just to do this.

Can any advise steps?

Thanks in advance

i've done this procedure, be aware that the linkstation'll need a DHCP server to acquire an IP address! I needed months to figure this out!

Hi,

Problem is now resolved with a little help from Buffalo support.
Unsure of how I managed to get it to EM exactly and stop the blue light from blinking to solid but it now all works ok.

I am now on 1.68 firmware

Disk Health check is a little concern as it shows an error on the end stating it cannot access disk and I should retry. I have retried a few times and the same error appears each time. Any suggestions on this?

Thanks

Hi everybody.
I have the same exact issue and I don't know how to get it in EM mode. It just keeps blinking. Function LED never gets solid light.
Another thing that I have noticed, that after a while, it just keeps rebooting in a loop.
Any help would be appreciated.

Tibor

Delete all files on /dev/sda2 and start with EM-Mode
do not delete the partition!

It translates it somehow, but many words are way off and it's very hard to understand. The software, is also in German.
I have never dealt with Linux yet. I will have to ask a friend, on how to do this.

It won't boot on my Windows 8.1 PC, even if I chose to be the first device to boot.
I have used Gparted live and I have deleted the other partitions.
I have tried following another thread, but I'm not getting anywhere.
I have tried TFTP boot recovery, it loads but nothing happens, just keeps blinking. LED never goes solid, or does not reboot.
Initially, blinks the E06 red code.
I have also tried LSupdater, but it won't find it, same goes for the Navigator.
Tried it in safe mode with network, still does not work.

I have loaded that CD, on another PC, but I don't know what I should do with it. I have never used Linux before.
I'm not sure, if I did not make a mistake already.
I have just noticed, that you have said to delete all the files, but I have deleted all the partitions, except the data one.

Yes, this was so stupid.

1) try Testdisk , its a tool to rebuild partition table
2) of 1 not helps try the UFS-Explorer

I did not post back, because I was figuring out with a friend, on how to backup the xfs partition, to another hard drive. We did it in Unbutu(gparted live USB).
Testdisk, did not show this hard drive in the list.
I had on my PC a MiniTool Partition Wizard software, which recognized the hard drive and found a bunch of partitions.
It found 31 partitions, NTFS, EXT2 and EXT3 partitions. I don't see the XFS partition there.
I don't know, which one should be restored.
Here is a PrintScreen image, on what I have:

Any help would be appreciated.
Forgot to say, that we wiped the hard drive, after the backup. Did not format.

My PC is been on for a couple of days, I don't want to turn it off and lose this scan. It took a couple of hours to finish.
Any help would be appreciated.
