Hi,

Can i install minidlna (http://sourceforge.net/projects/minidlna/) dlna server in my LS CHL v2 NAS running Shonk's mod1.54 firmware?

My problem with twonky is that it doesn't support external subtitles (sub or srt) for video files. I have a tv with dlna client and i can play videos just fine.
Tv supports external subs but twonky doesn't support this.

Do i have to build from the source files or can i just use already built files?
That program is supposed to support various dlna capable tv's such as Sony, Samsung and LG.

Has anyone successfully installed minidlna or something similar in their LS chl v2 boxes? Any tutorials or how to guides?

I'd really appreciate if someone could help me.

How about searching for "Optware" in this forum or,
also helpful, in our Wiki?
And you don't need to apologise for not searching first.
"We" are used to this kind of answer/question/searching
game. ;-)
If you want to enhance the capabilities of your LS, you
will need root access (SSH or telnet) and install the
Optware bootstrap.
There are several guides how to achive this in this forum
and in the Wiki.
The guide for the LS-VL also works for all other Kirkwood
based boxes (they share the same rootfs firmware part).

Hi,

Ok i managed to install optware bootstrap and optware minidlna package with ipkg.
However that version is quite old. Where do these optware packages get installed, what is the path?

I have latest minidlna arm build and want to replace optware version with the new one.

Thanks.

The software is installed in "/opt" (hint: that is the reason for the name
optware -> software in /opt).
You need to ensure, that the new version is using the same ABI the old
one is using (there are OABI and EABI arm packages floating around).
Maybe a backup of the original files BEFORE the update of the software
would be a clever idea?
Please report, if you had success.
