Is there a simple solution to a PS3 seeing my Linkstation on the network. Other media servers are found by the PS3 and other network devices find the Linkstation.

I have the same problem that PS3 cant find files on my Buffalo linkstation live 1TB.
I can see my Nas but gets " No files found " in folders: video, music, pictures.

Solution anyone ?

Updated the database of the media server on the LS?
There is a setting in Extensions -> Media Server to set
the number of minutes between updates and another
setting to update the database at all.
Without updating the database, NOTHING will be displayed.

I do not use the Media Server myself at all. I just did some
tests yesterday out of curiosity because of all the requests
for help (not only this specific one here).
The UI is not very intuitive, I have to admit.

If there is no verified backup of a dataset, the dataset, by definition, is unimportant. (c't 2012)

RAID (no matter which level) never ever substitutes a backup. (me)

I had a similar problem, but found that DLNA somehow was deactivated. Probably during a firmware upgrade.

Find the setting under Extentions, Media Server.

After enabling DLNA my PS3 found the LinkStation at the next search/start-up.
