Hi

I have an TS-XEL terastation.

He have 4 disk : 3x512Gb and 1x2Tb disk.

He is rooted with an full Debian distribution.

I bougth an 4Tb hard drive but the drive is an 4k sectors.

If I connect it on an USB port it works.

Can I replace an 512Gb drive with this 4Tb ?

Do I must change an firmware ?

I think, it depends on the kernel version your Debian is
using. As far as I can remember, the 4k sector support
was introduced in some kernel version and versions before
this, need special patches.

According to Seagate, 2.6.34 is the first kernel to fully
support 4k sector disks.

Hi !
I have a result of my test :

I hace copy GPT partition table on USB disk 4To, sync the RAID, and unmount the disk and put it into the NAS and boot only with thi disk.

--> NOT WORK.

I have boot my NAS with only 1 (old) disk of 512Gb, and remake GPT tables. Resync OS.

Remove the 512Gb disk. Boot only with the 4Tb disk :

IT'S WORKS !!!

Why ?

I have check :

With USB-SATA Bridge :
