I've got kernel 2.6.27.4 up and running on a Lenny on my LS Live v3 ("torrent"/LS-CHL). My USB port still doesn't work. According to a discussion in German, this cuold be an issue of power saving. Is micro_evtd also adjusting the power for the USB port? Or is micro-evtd completely unrelated to USB :)

lb_worm, thanks for the great work  .

I'm using kernel 2.6.29.1 (EABI without OABI compatibility option) with the rootfs by davy_gravy (lenny-armel, well "squeeze" now actually) on lspro v2. It doesn't use initrd. So I'm wondering whether there's a chance to use the standby feature? If there is, how? Is there a detailed guideline for my situation?

Another long-standing question is: I saw there's built-in support in kernel for the watchdog. Could micro_evtd survive with that enabled? Or have you thought about using the kernel support for the watchdog? 'cause that may have some advantage comparing with a user-space daemon? (I don't know nothing, just wild guess).

Best Regards
hato

@dsplayer: At present micro_evtd does not control USB power.

@hato: You can run this with the kernel control. You can disable the watchdog control in micro_evtd (see man page) and use it to monitor/control temp, fan and buttons. Also, the standby/WOL is used with the modified initrd at present.

Right at the OFF point the "Shutting down for standby" message is printed and the box enters standby mode.

What are the ltimer readings before this message? Can you post?

Well, as "./micro_evtd -c" actually does not reboot the box, I need to run "make install". I will update this posting with the ltimer reading (there will be only one...according to my present findings).

One issue I had was that micro_evtd was in two places; /usr/sbin and /usr/local/sbin.

Ok, I tested/installed the modified version with the lTimer-printf:
There is NO lTimer output when the box enters standby mode!!

I have just one micro_evtd; /usr/local/sbin

This is strange as this can not happen. I will post some changes for you to see what is causing this on your setup.

Any news?
Also regarding a lenny compliant, WOL featured initrd?

Yes and yes. I will dig-out and post the bit of test code required to chase this process issue. I will also release a completed INITRD image with the updated/corrected WOL feature; I assume you are still running the test drop without issues?

Correct, no issues regarding WOL.

Hi!

just upgraded micro-evtd to the latest svn version, from the version included in the lb_worm lenny image (here: http://downloads.buffalo.nas-central.or ... 20kernels/).

Once the daemon restarted, I started to hear noises (like if it's trying to beep but just can't...) from the LS, each second.

I stopped the daemon and started it manually (micro_evtd -c), and it outputs '0' each second with this noise!
It's disturbing...

Why is this happening? Any solution?

Why I call this a noise instead of a beep? This is my second question. I messed up with the microapl trying to make beeps and since it made weird noises instead of noises, as if the frequency is too low or too high for the buzzer...

Any idea in order to reset this?

Plus, there's not /tmp/my_status but the eventscript instead...

Best regards,
Je

Well, messed again with the microapl and the beeps came back, but then micro_evtd beeps are really disturbing.

Code:
s:/# micro_evtd -c
0
0
0
0
0
0

Solved:

- removed all micro_evtd related files (/etc/default/micro_evtd, /etc/micro_evtd/Eventscript, /usr/local/sbin/micro_evtd, /usr/local/sbin/microapl, /etc/init.d/micro_evtd)
- installed micro-evtd with apt-get

Regards,
Je
