The only issues with Vista and Samba are on Vista's side and a quick registry patch fixes that.

Yep this is already in svn and will be in the next foonas-em & foonas-iscsi.

Pushed the next foonas-em release back a bit due to recent holiday and lots of work on foonas-iscsi instead. Its coming soon still though :)

foonas-em release time. 0.1.0-r0 is now available. Here is some of the stuff that changed since the last release:

* Kernels for lsppchd, lsppchg, kuropro, ts109, ts209, lspro updated to 2.6.25
* Kernel for n2100 updated to 2.6.24.4
* Kernel for lsmipsel updated to 2.6.22.19
* USB Storage, VFAT and full JFS support for all platforms
* Full reiser support for all platforms except lsmipsel
* Web interface localised into English, Spanish, German (online parts not yet localised)
* We now use uclibc instead of glibc
* lsarm is now called lspro
* lspro, ts209 and kuropro are now supported platforms (check the platform support page for more info)
* You can now tftpboot foonas-em and install foonas-em to NAND via the web interface for kuropro. This is how kuropro will receive updates in the future for foonas-em too
* Haserl upgraded to 0.9.24, Busybox to 1.10.1, vsftpd to 2.0.6
* ts209 has button & LED control via the piccontrol utility
* XFS is not present at all
* ipv6 support for all platforms

Find out more information on your platform at the foonas-em platform support page:

http://foonas.org/index.php/Foonas-em

Special thanks to mindbender and davygravy for helping out with the localisations, everyone who submitted bugs and helped fix things, bbradley for all the orion support stuff (qnap patches, lspro support, piccontrol), and davy for fixing loads of bugs and all the testing, and anyone else involved in foonas I forgot to mention.

Hopefully users of lsppc and lsmipsel platforms will be very happy with all the extra features we can now fit in flash :) Flashing guide for lsppc* has been updated. Enjoy... (and don't forget to donate, we need new platforms to support!)

Thanks for the offer mindbender... will be in contact as soon as I know what is going on with that!

One small unmentioned issue (other than in the bug tracker) for lspro/kuropro is that halt does not work at the moment. We will issue a build with a fix for this in the coming weeks, bbradley is looking into it!

Just noticed an issue with the online version check for lspro. This is now fixed and will work next time you boot up 0.1.0-r0 up and look at the web interface. Hopefully we will be issuing a new minor version with shutdown fixes for lspro/kuropro from sylver and bbradley and some other fixes this weekend.

Freelink for kurobox pro is now available via the web browser based installer for users running foonas-em 0.1.0-r0. It uses the following guide:

http://buffalo.nas-central.org/index.ph ... al_install

This automates everything in the above guide including u-boot configuration. If you already have 0.1.0-r0 just load it up and it will appear in the distribution list.

The list of major changes to appear in the next minor version of foonas-em hopefully this weekend are as follows:

* micro-evtd 3.1 for lsarm/kuropro
* various extra patches for busybox 1.10.1
* linux 2.6.25.1 for lspro, kuropro, lsppchd, lsppchg, ts109, ts209
* poweroff/reboot LED/buzzer behavior fixed for lspro/kuropro
* poweroff/reboot behavior at command line fixed for all platforms (fixes for boxes not rebooting/shutting down properly, LED, buzzers..) this currently affects lspro, kuropro, lsmipsel (and possibly lsppc).

Thanks to bbradley for reworking Sylvers shutdown patch for the lspro/kuropro devices! Focus moves elsewhere for a few weeks after this release again (probably back to foonas-iscsi again).

foonas-em 0.1.0-r2 is now available with the fixes mentioned in the previous post. Enjoy, and consider donating maybe as we really need some new kit to support!

Kuropro users with foonas-em 0.1.0-r0 in flash can boot their old installed version and upgrade via the web interface, other platforms please check the foonas wiki!

timtimred & all, I tried the foonas-em installation of FreeLink on LSProV2 w/ the stock U-Boot (w/ all stock env var values), and it doesn't boot for me after reboot@end of installer run...
it seems like :
Code:
  setenv bootcmd 'ide reset; ext2load ide 0:1 0x00100000 /boot/uImage ; setenv bootargs console=ttyS0,115200 root=/dev/sda1 rw ; bootm 0x00100000'

is correct... but... the stock uboot for lsprov2 looks on the hdd for the initrd, and if it can't locate it, it automatically goes into tftp mode (to whereever the env var 'def_tftp" sends it...) so it kind of chokes before it get to running bootcmd.

An easy way around this is to set
Code:
setenv initrd /boot/uImage
, and change def_tftp to whatever makes sense in terms of explicit values (instead of something based on the variable values) lspro env vars

Another way would be to just put a symlink at the root level uImage-> /boot/uImage ... This would require the fewest changes.
EDIT: this line for the symlink should read : initrd.buffalo -> /boot/uImage

A remaining issue seems to be that machine shuts down after 5 minutes - the uppermost green led is flashing, so this may be a watchdog/micro_evtd/miconapl issue... not sure. Does miconapl handle watchdog stuff in FreeLink? if so, something may be amiss as miconapl doesn't seem to function for me...
Code:
root@LS-GL7D6:~# miconapl -a bz_on finepix
err: RecvPacket: readlen=0.
root@LS-GL7D6:~#  miconapl -a temp_get
err: RecvPacket: readlen=0.
root@LS-GL7D6:~# miconapl -p
>MiconCommon_Constructor

tried this for 5 or 6 installs, can't seem to find the problem yet...

same initial behaviour with freelink installation on a LS Pro v1.

I already messed around with symlinks and changing env vars of the uboot enviroment.....but so far i was not able to get it to boot at all.

http://pastebin.org/33773

i also think that it has to do something with the initrd check of uboot. it searches for the initrd directly on the first partition which is formated with ext2 (or ext3 whatever)....does it search for initrd.buffalo or does it search for the file mentioned in the "initrd" var? i already tried to symlink
initrd -> boot/uImage
initrd.buffalo -> boot/uImage

and many more.....it still does not boot. need to investigate more...

I think I will be removing the lspro Freelink installer if it does not work. Other people should note that the Freelink lspro installer is a testing version and not officially supported at all (is is clearly marked as such in the foonas-em installer interface).

If someone else starts fixes miconapl in this distro then I am happy to add the initrd fix, if not then we may have to remove the installer.

Who is maintaining Freelink for the ARM platforms (and actually powerpc and mipsel) anyway?

mindbender, I'm pretty sure you are close... in the ext2load command, did you try a 1:1 ?

bootcmd=ide reset;ext2load ide 1:1 0x00100000 /boot/uImage;setenv bootargs console=ttyS0,115200 root=/dev/sda1 rw; bootm 0x00100000

Overall, I think it is very close... I have so little experience (none) with FreeLink on LSPro, so I don't know where to best start...

lb_worm, are you familiar with this? ... it looks like a problem w/ miconapl perhaps?

please don`t remove it timtimred. i don`t think many will try it before we announce it somewhere to be working 100 %.

leave it and i am sure we find the problem.
