Removing foonas builds from the foonas.org downloads area until further notice! They will reappear again after various parts of it have been reworked. In the meantime foonas-iscsi is coming along and localisation is due to appear in foonas-em shortly.

More details on the next foonas-em update coming soon:

Due to the XFS issues on the ARM platforms XFS is being dropped across the board. JFS is replacing XFS as the default alternative filesystem, with reiserfs as a secondary option. Also we are moving to uclibc for foonas-em to fit more stuff in flash. Here some are the extras (subject to change):

Core Feature Enhancements:
* Localisation support (includes english, spanish)
* glibc swapped for uClibc
* XFS removed
* VFAT for all platforms
* Haserl upgrade to 0.9.22

lsmipsel:
* Linux 2.6.22.16
* USB mass storage
* Full JFS support
* ReiserFS module

lsppc:
* Linux 2.6.23.14
* USB mass storage
* Full JFS and ReiserFS support

lsarm, kuropro, ts109, ts209:
* Linux 2.6.24
* TCP checksum offload

n2100:
* Linux 2.6.24

ts209:
* PIC controller utility added
* New RTC Driver

On the foonas-iscsi front (which is also uclibc based now) I have added ATAoE stuff to foonas svn and have this working in foonas-iscsi builds. This will feature as an alternative to the iscsi protocol in the foonas-iscsi distro.

looks great.

i am still impressed about the transfer speed of my LS1. with the stock OS and Freelink i both did never get more than 5.5 MB/sek over samba......but with foonas i get constant 7.5 MB/sek. can`t wait to see a arm9-image with a recent micro_evtd integrated. i am sure it will be fast.

just4info -> busybox 1.9.1 stable was released
http://busybox.net/

foonas-em might want it inside :D

other good looking options created with the tool webapp which ramuk mentioned:
Code:

btw: somehow the good look gets a little messed up through the forum software, especially the first 2 lines are shifted somehow. try the application yourself or take a look at http://buffalo.nas-central.org/download/Users/ ... estion.txt
doom and chunky are my favorites so far.

timtimred, its up to you what you take of course.

I merged a few of the suggestions above into a slightly different one. It may get modified in the future, suggestions on improvements are welcome.

Going through a busy time atm so there is a slight pause on foonas... Will resume shortly!

Hi all,
foonas has resumed. Up next is another major release in terms of changes and new features for platforms with less flash space in foonas-em. Some COMPLETELY UNSUPPORTED betas (ignore version related error messages in them) are available in the foonas downloads area for lsppchd, lsppchg, lsmipsel and ts209 initially. Hopefully we will release this next version a short time after 2.6.25 is out. Here is updated info based on the post above about the upcoming foonas-em update (which may differ in the betas slightly):

Hopefully we will be moving lsarm, kuropro and ts209 to supported status with the next release.

Core Feature Enhancements:
* Partial localisation support (includes english, spanish, german thanks to davygravy and mindbender - online components not localised until next version)
* glibc replaced with uClibc 0.9.29
* XFS removed
* VFAT for all platforms
* Haserl upgrade to 0.9.23
* Busybox 1.9.2
* ipv6 enabled kernel & busybox
* vsftpd updated to 2.0.6

lsmipsel:
* Linux 2.6.22.19
* USB mass storage
* Full JFS support
* ReiserFS module

lsppc:
* Linux 2.6.24.4
* USB mass storage
* Full JFS and ReiserFS support

lsarm, kuropro, ts109, ts209:
* Linux 2.6.25

n2100:
* Linux 2.6.24

ts209:
* PIC controller utility added, LED behavior fixed and shutdown via button works (thanks to bbradley)

Anyone out there w/ Windows/XP or Vista? (especially Vista, as I understand there were some issues w/ Samba & Vista...)...

I have a bootstrap-image/rootfs.tar.gz with the latest stable Samba (3.0.28a) rolled inside... for LSPro/lsarm - but I have no Windoze boxes to test it against. It works fine w/ Mac OS X and Ubuntu & Debian... I really needs to be checked w/ XP and Vista. Any willing testers out there? You'd need tweak the /etc/samba/smb.conf to your partition scheme... I could supply a "everything's public/writable/readable" smb.conf if you want that...

I will be building one for LS-HG tonight too. If you have LS1, I'd be happy to build that for you, too. :)
