Hi all,
Posted some builds of Angstrom I've been working on for you to try out. This Linux distribution comes with various pre-configured opkg (its an ipkg variant) feeds so that you can add your packages of choice. I have made this available for the following platforms so far:

* Linkstation HD/LS1 (PowerPC)
* Linkstation HG (PowerPC)
* Linkstation Pro (ARM)
* Kurobox Pro (ARM)

I have not have time to do instructions yet but PowerPC users will need a device tree aware uboot and all users will have to have serial. Don't configure the fstab, but remember to pass root kernel argument and specify it as rw (e.g. root=/dev/sda3 rw).

* Download it here - http://downloads.buffalo.nas-central.or ... /angstrom/
* More information on angstrom - http://www.angstrom-distribution.org/
* Angstrom package browser (this will update with our platforms when a cronjob runs overnight I think) - http://www.angstrom-distribution.org/repo/

I have populated the feeds for these devices at angstrom-distribution.org - please test it out and report back!

Those of you with Thecus N1200 and QNAP TS-109/TS-209 note that builds for these platforms are in my home area in downloads sections in the qnap and thecus areas:

Indeed, there are some goodies here : http://www.angstrom-distribution.org/feeds/2008/ipk/glibc/

just need to add to one's /etc/ipkg/foonas-feed.conf and update, install...

For the KuroPro, this is what I did (from netconsole, you'd do the same from serial):
Code:
=> ide reset
=> ext2load ide 0:1 0x00100000 /boot/uImage
=> setenv bootargs root=/dev/sda1 rw
=> bootm 0x00100000

And you'll see something like this:
Code:
egiga0

 [PRIME]
Using 88E1118 phy
Found boot image
hit any key to switch tftp boot.
Hit any key to stop autoboot:  0
switched to TFTP boot.

We now have a build server for building feeds for our devices in angstrom, and you can monitor it at work. This server uploads feeds directly to the angstrom distribution feeds. This means we can fix and add packages to the distro directly :)

Build server log - http://tinderbox.openembedded.net/builders/nas-central/

First it builds the arch specific feeds using two non-NAS device targets, followed by the platform specific packages. As I'm writing this its generating the generic armv5te packages using some other device.

I will publish some new image builds soon, but you will be able to upgrade anyway when we push the new packages at the end of the build - note that there are a lot of packages and this might take some time!

http://amethyst.openembedded.net/~koen/narcissus/

I had only used it a few times, but it seems to still be there... its building for me now... though it hasn't finished (yet)...

----------------

EDIT: it took all of about 8 minutes to build an image :) ... though I don't have the time to test it right now...
