I have written a man page which comes with the daemon. I could dump this onto the wiki if everyone thinks this is a good idea? It changes with the versions so it would be better if I maintained it.

Very good idea! Maybe you want to put some basic information about that to the wiki and just attach the (converted?) man page? This would make it easier to maintain it. I think there are some tools around to convert man2html (google for this word, and you'll find a lot - e.g. one CGI script). So you could keep the technical information up-to-date just by replacing the "source" man page.

V1.6 is delayed a bit. 2 long days at work has prevented work on the upload package. Will try to complete ASAP.

@mindbender: v1.6 is ready with em-mode enabled. Can you test? I will e-mail it to you if required.

i want to test of course. mail me the source. (mindbender at gmx dot at)

i lost some thoughts about putting the LS into EM mode via the reset button. we maybe have to improve the event number 8 to support different LS Models as maybe there are differences regarding the flash-device nodes....but i am sure we will solve this :)

Banged it on the ftp site. Drill down to source-code/testing/avr_evtd_testing.bz2. Let me know how it goes!!

Slight bug, tested and re-uploaded. You will need to un-comment the em-mode's in the /etc/avr_evtd/EventScript to the following:

E) echo -n "[avr_evtd]: EM mode selected"
FLASH=
# Determine flash block to use
if [ -f /proc/mtd ]; then
MTD=`cat /proc/mtd | grep mtd_status`
BLOCK_ID=${MTD:3:1}
FLASH=/dev/mtdblock$BLOCK_ID
elif [ -f /dev/fl3 ]; then
FLASH=/dev/fl3
fi

# Flash device available?
if [ -n "$FLASH" ]; then
DUMP=`cat $FLASH`
STATE=${DUMP:2:4}
# Check state is currently NORMAL
if [ "$STATE" = "OKOK" ]; then
echo -n "NGNGNG" > $FLASH
fi
fi

You can understand why I commented these out during testing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Right, following post of freelink-mipsel, v1.6 is close for posting. Be advised, MIPS version 1.6 is not the offical version. Some other minor changes have been made since this testing drop was made. Will keep this topic updated with info when available.

Will post version 1.6.2 covering fixes to the EventScript and also a fix to the power reset button option that I appear to have broke.

Right, fixed the dam reset button now on the power button operation: you may find it is a bit trigger happy at the moment and does a reset of the first press (if quick release and not power down). Added the apservd to the EventScript and fixed the telnet session launch too.

$DISKCHECK is not precise in avr_evtd 1.6.2/LS1, seems to be thinking the disk is a percent or two fuller than it actually is.

Also I think all logs should go into /var/log/, not /etc/avr_evtd/. The same goes for /etc/avr_evtd/EventScript, which should reside in /usr/local/sbin/, maybe as /usr/local/sbin/avr_evtdscript (IMHO).

One could also think about moving the binaries to /sbin/. I had problems when my /dev/hda3 wasn't accessible, with my /usr pointing to /mnt/usr/.

i agree. on openlink it would then be on the ramdisk.

i disagree. EventScript is an additional config-file for avr_evtd.
