That would be nice!

Is there a chance you can upload or send me the latest avr_evtd today? Otherwise, my v54 will feature your v1.7.1.

does avr_evtd 1.7.1 need the a certain kernel version in order to function properly?

should EMMODE=YES and a >20sec init button press force a reboot into EM mode on any HG model, or does this only work for the original LS1 & LS2?

I have 1.7.1 installed, and when trying the 20sec init press I see an event triggered (at least attempted to trigger) :
Code:
cat /mnt/var/log/avr_evtd.log
Sat Nov  4 08:03:19 CST 2006 command is 6 for /dev/ttyS1
Sat Nov  4 08:03:40 CST 2006 command is E for /dev/ttyS1

yet it does not reboot.

?

Now uploaded https://sourceforge.net/projects/ppc-evtd/

Sorry about the delay. Needed to make sure that all the changes were working okay (there have been quite a few).

No it does not need anything specific at all.

You only need to set EMMODE=YES if you need the EM mode reboot option which as you say needs the reset button held for 20+seconds. This should work fine on the LS1 and LS2 but I have issues with running this on my HG with anything other than 2.4.x of the kernel loaded. It is fine on my LS1 with the 2.6.x kernel. If the event is triggered, which it must be as you have seen the E in the log, then the only reason for the failure is as a result of the flash device not being detected. If you can try out 1.7.2 and see if the problem persists. If so, i may get you to test some code if that is okay :)

@andre: Sorry if I missed the v54 drop. I have been busy with the LS PRO and testing and wnated to make sure this drop was okay for the LCD plugin too.

davy_gravy, deleting things will break the bootloader.

Do this instead:

rm /boot/try_new_kernelKO*
echo -n "vmlinux.binKO" > /boot/try_new_kernelKO
cp -a /boot/loaderLS.o /boot/loaderKO.o
reboot

Failing that, download the loader you were advised to use in the kuro forum. Try them all one by one systematically, and report back which one worked for you.

Are you sure this is a Kuro HG you've got?

querying the machine...

Code:
cat /proc/cpuinfo
cpu             : 82xx
revision        : 16.20 (pvr 8081 1014)
bogomips        : 172.85
vendor          : Motorola SPS
machine         : Sandpoint
processor       : PVID: 0x80811014, vendor: Motorola

I tried the first, and got a lockup - will try others this evening & tomorrow as I find some time here and there

Go ahead and join the testing effort. You guys have got to tell me which loader.o works, or get me the hardware so I can figure it out myself :)

I assume there are no problems then with the 1.7.2 drop :)

I have been working on getting Ubuntu up and working on my old Asus Digitmatrix box and I am glad it is going. Faster than my Inspron 8000 :)

With the new device tree used with kernels newer than 2.6.19 on the PPC boxes the serial port mapping has been changed. the AVR now resides on ttyS0 and the serial console is on ttyS1 (as it should have been all along). Any way you could incorporate this into your avr_evtd package?

It should find this automatically as it checks the memory address of the port and assigns the device type based on that. I you having particular problems with this?

Will be another drop soon to allow openlink users to override the daemon to use the avr_evtd configuration rather than the timer_status file that the web interface uses.

Also looking into low power sleep mode.

Hi there.

I installed a Gentoo Linux onto my Linkstation_HG and updated to a current kernel (3.1.4) booting via Uboot.
Unfortunately when I press the front button, there is no action.
Is there anything that I must be aware of when building a new kernel?
Two serial ports (ttyS0 and ttyS1) are available.

Any help is appreciated.
