Hi All,

I have a Terastation TS-XEL /R5. The intention was to replace all athe drives with 4 x new WD 2TB Red NAS drives.......easy I thought! how wrong was I.

The unit through a tantrum and alarms going off all over the place. So replaced disks 2 -4 with the 2TB WD Red's and it seems happier. Going to do a system reset from the web interface.

So the obvious question now, how the heck do I replace disk 1, I am assuming its got the system software on it, hence its happy now I have put the orginal back in, but I really would like to change it to enable all 4 bays to be new drives.

Any advice as to the best way around this?

Thanks all

Format drive 2,3 and 4.
Now you have copies from the firmware on this drives.
Replace drive 1 and format the new drive 1
