[SOLVED]

tl;dr summary:

4TB drive is supported with newer firmwares.
Use stock firmware to init a brand new disk, then update to a mod firmware if you want to run a mod firmware.




Has anyone been able to get this to work?

I have a LS-XH1.0TL-US running 1.60-3.03 code on the original 1TB Samsung drive. Everything runs great on the 1TB drive.

It's full, so I'm trying to get a Seagate ST4000VN003 4TB drive to work.

I have tried clonezilla, ddrescue, and LSUpdater 1.60 and 1.68 all with the same results. 6 flashes of the red light - E06

I can boot from TFTP and then everything runs fine. It sees the 4TB drive.

Booting from the disk, the embedded firmware does not appear to be able to read the partition table. Can the embedded firmware be upgraded over serial or jtag?

Any help is greatly appreciated.

You can not clone the drive
1tb 512 bytes per sector - mbr
4tb 4096 bytes per sector - gpt



delete all partitions on the new drive and set gpt with windows
then start with E06

now you can plug your old drive per usb and mound partition 6 per ssh to copy your data

I tried putting a clean GPT partition table on it with Linux (FC20) fdisk and booting from tftp. I ended up with the same scenario. After it flashed the orange lights indicating that the firmware was updating, it came back with E06 after the reboot.

It caught my eye that the 4TB Seagate is 512 logical 4096 physical sector size. I don't know if that's significant or not.

start with a clean partition free disk
you will have to use tftp two times

I used dd to wipe the entire disk
dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/sdc

My process while attempting to initialize the new drive:

powered on LS with wiped 4TB disk
E06
press function button
tftp boot
ran LSUpdater 1.60 Mod1 with all debug options checked
LS rebooted to E06
press function button
tftp boot
Orange light I25 - firmware updating
LS rebooted to E06
press function button
tftp boot
reset to defaults via http
LS rebooted to E06
press function button
tftp boot
solid blue light
telnet root

try to flash original 1.60 and after success flash a mod

i had the same problem here:
