I would recommend to try the firmware reflash first. Try to get the SAME firmware version which is already installed on the box. Use the debug mode of LSUpdater and do NOT (!!!) use Repartition but only "force update". You can try to update to a later firmware version, if you can't manage to get the same version currently installed. Do NOT repartition either! If this fails, the last resort should be to remove the disk. Get a decent Linux Live CD and start your PC with this CD. Install XFS progs and support files, if not already part of the Live CD distribution. Mount the LAST partition of the disk as XFS. You will find your data there. Copy the data to an USB disk (be aware to use an appropriate filesystem on the USB disk; FAT32 has a 4GB Limit for files).

If there is no verified backup of a dataset, the dataset, by definition, is unimportant. (c't 2012)
RAID (no matter which level) never ever substitutes a backup. (me)
