The guide is not suitable for LS-CHLV2.

Further use:

Code:
java -jar acp_commander.jar -t NAS_IP -ip NAS_IP -pw Youradminpassword -c "echo 'UsePAM no' >>/etc/sshd_config"
java -jar acp_commander.jar -t NAS_IP -ip NAS_IP -pw Youradminpassword -c "/usr/local/sbin/sshd"

modify sshd.sh
Delete Lines:
Code:
if [ "${SUPPORT_SFTP}" = "0" ] ; then
echo "Not support sftp on this model." > /dev/console
     exit 0
fi

You can still try the method for the LS-VL.
http://buffalo.nas-central.org/wiki/Open_Stock_Firmware_LS-VL
Beforehand, you can test, if the sshd is running at all.
Use this:
Code:
java -jar acp_commander.jar -t NAS_IP -ip NAS_IP -pw Youradminpassword -c "ps"

Or more robust:
Code:
java -jar acp_commander.jar -t NAS_IP -ip NAS_IP -pw Youradminpassword -c "ps > /mnt/disk1/share/ps_output.txt"

Then you will find the output of ps in a file on your share
"share" with the name "ps_output.txt".
There you should find a line containing "sshd".
If you can't find a line like this, I wuold assume you missed
the hint of Oxygen8 three posts before (removing the test
for SUPPORT_SFTP).

Not sure if this procedure is also able to root LS-WVL/R1 with Firmware 1.43 (released on Jun 30, 2011)?
Any successful installation?

You can try the open FW 1.43 from Shonk.

Thank you very much for your kind and quick reply.
I am a Linux noob, hence, I will wait for other members can confirm the 4 simple steps published by Keene is also workable with FW 1.43.

I just bought a WVL and upgraded to firmware 1.52.
However, now I'm unable to get root access using the above method so I'm wondering if it's possible to downgrade the firmware to version 1.42??
I found Shonks custom firmware but I'm not sure if I want to use custom firmwares.. feels a little risky. I just need to find a way to get root access.
Thanks

Hi all,
I have a LS-WXL with 1.54 firmware version..

Like you, I have to try to enable telnet or a ssh access..my primary target is to install java for run a simple .jar inside the NAS.

I have read all the post, and I have try with the command line

Look this:

C:\>java -jar C:\Users\Admin\Desktop\acp_commander.jar -t 192.168.0.200 -ip 192.
168.0.200 -pw [my web giu access password]-c "(echo pass234;echo pass234)|passwd"
ACP_commander out of the nas-central.org (linkstationwiki.net) project.
Used to send ACP-commands to Buffalo linkstation(R) LS-PRO.

WARNING: This is experimental software that might brick your linkstation!

Using random connID value = 3B5D1F850DDA
Using target: NASPENILE/192.168.0.200
Starting authentication procedure...
Sending Discover packet...
Found: NASPENILE (/192.168.0.200) LS-WXL(KEITAI) (ID=00486) mac: 00:
24:A5:9A:16:10 Firmware= 1.540 Key=23E3922E
Trying to authenticate EnOneCmd... ACP_STATE_OK
Trying to authenticate with admin password... ACP_STATE_OK
>(echo pass234;echo pass234)|passwd
OK (ACP_STATE_OK)
Changeing IP: ACP_STATE_PASSWORD_ERROR
Please note, that the current support for the change of the IP is currently very
rudimentary.
The IP has been set to the given, fixed IP, however DNS and gateway have not bee
n set. Use the WebGUI to make appropriate settings.

I always have the ACP_STATE_PASSWORD_ERROR

What I can try to make to resolve this issue??
