OK, here is the situation. I have two LS-WXL units both running Shonk's 1.71mod1 firmware. One I have no problem SFTPing using WinSCP or another program. The other I get the message

"The server rejected SFTP connection, but it listens for FTP connections.

Did you want to use FTP protocol instead of SFTP? Prefer using encryption."

I've checked the port forwarding setup on the router and that's correct. I am able to connect via FTP, but not SFTP. The other unit allows me to SFTP without problems. Does anyone know how to check to make sure that SSH and SFTP is enabled and running?

I can telnet into the NAS. If I attempt to connect from the same network using putty I get a connection refused error. So I could use help figuring out why it's refusing connections on port 22 and to remedy that. Thanks!

Only one Linkstation can use Port 22.
Which port have you forwardet to the second nas port 22.

Sorry, let me clarify. These two units are on two completely different networks. Shortly after this post I stumbled across this post:

viewtopic.php?f=68&t=30367

and I did the procedure of installing ipkg, mc and then modifying info. After the restart of the system SSH worked like a champ!

What is unclear to me is how ssh got turned off in one box and not in the other.
