Please forgive my noobiness on this subject as I've finally had enough of the pants Buffalo call "up to date" firmware and came accross this fantasic forum.
I have an LS-WXL/R1 Series and take it from the forum post that it is compatible with it.

What I want to know is:-

1. If I install this will I loose the data already on there (around 4TB!!!). I have 2 x 3.0TB drives in RAID 0

2. My LS has OFW 1.69 installed. Will Shonk's CFW just install or are there steps which have to be performed prior?

3. Does it operate in the same was as it does now (i.e. Web Access to admin pages, Twonky, utorrent/transmission)

4. What OS is it running? I take it once this is installed and you reset factory settings to clear root password you can ssh/telnet to it. Can you then install other packages like Apache and MySQL updates?

5. Is the OS open to changes once this firmware has been installed or is it flashed to read only memory and cannot be changed?

Last thing, I cannot seem to find anything about. Is there an install guide or post which contains a walk-thru just so I know I know what i'm on with?
I'm pretty good with Debian and I gather this is similar so I'm not overly worried about that.

Many thanks in advance.

OK. I committed to it and it's great.
Took a while to get transmission working but it's working a charm now apart from that it is not shown in the Buffalo Bittorrent section?
Cant seem to figure out why. Any help on that would be great.

The other thing I cannot locate is how to get transmission-daemon to load at startup if I reboot the Nas?

Thanks

Shonk does not implemented transmission in the webif.

Garyt have it done here:

Thanks for the info Oxygen. I tried that but it would not install. Said that my firmware was up to date. Thought it should install as it was set to install on all versions but it would not.

Thanks again oxygen8. Perfect. I'll give that a go.

How easy is it to upgrade Apache + MySQL on the LS?
Be nice to claim my Raspberry Pi back from Web Server duties :)

Thanks

I've installed Shonk's 1.69 Mod 1 on my LS. Will it be ok to Install the one from Garyt?
I had to mess about to get Transmission working. Will that be overwritten (I hope so :) )
