Compile it yourself, because a compile environment is
available via ipkg (aka. Optware).
Otherwise you bought the wrong brand, if you really
need additional functionality.
There is a reason, why Buffalo is not offering any kind
of command line access.

Instead of deluge, try transmission. It's also a BT client and it's available on ipkg.

For couchpotato + sickbeard, since Python is already installed on the LS400 series, you only have to download the sources from the respective website and start the programs via a ssh shell.

I will try to make a tutorial when I get back from holidays (~1 month from now). I also found a toolchain for the armada 370 so I should be able to compile anything for the LS400 series. I will look into a way to integrate into the ipkg feed.

Install the cheetah package from ipkg, it seems to work OK.

You can also try to build it from source :
https://pypi.python.org/pypi/Cheetah/2.4.4

got sickbeard and couchpotato running, but can't get deluge working.

some crazy dependencies and python 2.7.2 is installed.

in other tuts have found:
# apt-get update && apt-get -y install g++ make gettext subversion python-all-dev python-all python-twisted python-twisted-web python-pyopenssl python-simplejson python-setuptools python-xdg python-chardet python-mako libssl-dev zlib1g-dev libboost-dev libasio-dev libboost-python-dev libboost-thread-dev libboost-date-time-dev libboost-filesystem-dev

and not sure how to install dependencies on ls421e

maybe others know.

thanks for help.

I don't know can we install Aria2C on LS421? I really need this one because I use to download direct link from Pro account like mega, rapidshare...
Thanks Oxygen8

Update: up to now, I don't know why I can't access to root with my password. The putty output is "Access denied", I did not change the root's password, the first time I open SSH I use admin is my NAS and Root password. And I could log in to install IPKG and Transmissions, but now I cannot log in with Root. I had read a guide to remove the password required from a topic but I cannot remember where is it, can you help me? I can log in with admin user and the password is admin. Thank you so much

My LS421 kills the rootpassword to.
I set the password every 5 mins with cron.

create a script:

Code:
(echo newrootpass;echo newrootpass )|passwd >/dev/null 2>&1
# cleanup the log
sed -i /'pam_unix(passwd:chauthtok)'/d /var/log/messages
sed -i /'pam_unix(cron:session)'/d /var/log/messages

and start it every 5 mins with cron
Code:
*/5 * * * * /mnt/array1/share/password.sh

Can you help me with details how to run it? I'm a newbie and know nothing about code and linux, I use WinSCP to copy and create scripts, in your several tutorials, I just copy and fix something to fit with my nas and know nothing :p
I'm looking to you take me out of stuck. :D And thanks you very much.

I followed your guide but it's not work for me. After codes, I type reboot to reboot my NAS but It could not boot and NAS Navigator 2 cannot find the LS421DE, I switched off and turn on button, after that my Buffalo can works again but I still not log in to root account. I doesn't know why it happen. I see your code is echo '(echo newrootpass;echo newrootpass )|passwd => I changed it echo '(echo admin;echo admid)|passwd without the spacing, is that wrong?
Thanks Oxygen8

Thanks you, Oxygen8. I tried 3 days ago but no luck. Without ACP Commander I don't know how to run your code. I try by myself because I know when I ask you too much makes you feel very vexatious. But sorry, I can't do that without your help.
I used CMD to run the code on Command Promt with your code like this:
Code:
java -jar acp_commander.jar -t 192.168.1.139 -ip 192.168.1.139 -pw admin -c "echo '(echo admin;echo admin )|passwd >/dev/null 2>&1' >/mnt/array1/share/password.sh"

java -jar acp_commander.jar -t 192.168.1.139 -ip 192.168.1.139 -pw admin -c "echo 'sed -i /'pam_unix(passwd:chauthtok)'/d /var/log/messages' >/mnt/array1/share/password.sh"

java -jar acp_commander.jar -t 192.168.1.139 -ip 192.168.1.139 -pw admin -c "echo 'sed -i /'pam_unix(cron:session)'/d /var/log/messages' >/mnt/array1/share/password.sh"

java -jar acp_commander.jar -t 192.168.1.139 -ip 192.168.1.139 -pw admin -c "chmod 755 /mnt/array1/share/password.sh"

java -jar acp_commander.jar -t 192.168.1.139 -ip 192.168.1.139 -pw admin -c "crontab -l >/tmp/crontab.backup"

java -jar acp_commander.jar -t 192.168.1.139 -ip 192.168.1.139 -pw admin -c "echo '*\/5 * * * * \/mnt\/array1\/share\/password.sh' >/tmp/crontab.backup"

java -jar acp_commander.jar -t 192.168.1.139 -ip 192.168.1.139 -pw admin -c "crontab < /tmp/crontab.backup"

java -jar acp_commander.jar -t 192.168.1.139 -ip 192.168.1.139 -pw admin -c "rm /tmp/crontab.backup"

By the way, thanks you so much because very patient with me. Have a good day.
