Hi All,

Does anyone know how to turn off the new firmware alert on a Terastation III.

My box is configured so I can use the root password and also has a different version of Twonky media server on there so I do not want to upgrade the firmware as I have no problems with the one that I have.

The problem is that currently I have a yellow alert light on the front and 'New Firmware Available' showing. There doesn't seem to be any way of switching this off which means it would mask any real problems as the amber light is on all the time.

Best Regards.

A "quick and dirty" solution might be to add the following line to /etc/hosts:

127.0.0.1 buffalo.jp

When it looks to see if there is a newer firmware it will fail to connect to Buffalo's server.

(Called from /etc/init.d/update_notifications.sh on my Linkstation)

disable the cronjob with #

Code:
crontab -e

Quote:
# 50 10 * * * /etc/cron/cron.d/S40B_update_notifications.sh

I did it myself in another way. Just log in with putty, launch mc, navigate in /etc, find here 1 file named linkstation_release, F4 to edit and change value for version with one value greater than actual firmware version. Restart box and done... never again yellow light.
