I have a HS-DH320GL and it is setup with our local network server as the DNS server.

If I set the DNS server to buffaloNAS.com, will I have problems elsewhere in the local network? Or will it use the server for DNS internally, and BuffaloNAS.com for remote access?

UPDATE:

This NAS is used in an office as the primary storage for company files. I am intending to setup file access for a remote site. I would setup a VPN (I've tried), but can not figure out how to map the NAS for the remote user.

I was able to access the drive through BuffaloNAS.com, but I had to place the NAS in a DMZ, as no matter what I tried, I could not connect.

I forwarded ports to the internal IP address of the NAS.

I setup a virtual server to forward ports to the internal IP of the NAS.

Nothing worked until I placed the NAS in the DMZ.

I am running a Dlink DIR-615 router, but it had DCHP disabled, as our internal server is running as the DNS server for the network.

Any ideas on why I can not connect to the NAS when its behind the Dlink?

Turns out I'm an idiot and didn't check the box next to my port forwarding rule.

Everything works great.
