I try to replace my 500GB disk with one of 2TB. I've updated the firmware to the latest firmware of the downloadsite before I switched the drive.

I put in the new harddisk and when I try to start the Buffalo Linkstation it makes a noise as an ambulance.

So, I cannot follow the steps as described at http://buffalo.nas-central.org/wiki/Upgrade_(or_replace)_the_existing_LinkStation_hard_drive#Old_Generation_-_LS1.2CLS2.2CHG.2CHS

What other options are available? Can I clone the old disk to the new disk with for example Easeus disk copy? I probably can do this with 2 external HDD USB Docking stations.

Yeah use DD to clone the complete disk. http://serverfault.com/questions/4906/u ... sk-cloning
Then expand the partition with GParted.

One other thing - you might have problems with advanced format disks (4K sectors) so try and stick with the older 512B sector disks for older linkstations. more info: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Advanced_Format
