I finally made some progress in my long quest to recover a LS HG that I bricked in an attempt to upgrade the stock firmware.

I managed to install UBoot via JTAG and then flashed foonas-em into the flash memory. So I have EM mode with telnet and ftp from now on.

I attempted to finish up by installed Freelink. Made partitions, untarred, so far so far so good, but when I reboot the LS it can't boot from the HD.

Here is the output from UBoot via NC

Loading 0:1:boot/uImage

Unable to read "boot/uImage" from ide 0:1

Unable to read "boot/kuroboxHG.dtb" from ide 0:1

I messed with the uboot environment variables when loading foonas / trying to flash it etc... and I'm not sure if the settings to boot the HD are still there.

What do I do next to get this thing running? I'm stuck trying to get the OS to boot from the HD and thought maybe someone could give me a hint.

edit: The Freelink tmpimage.tar that I installed on hda1 has no files in the /boot folder. Is this normal? It seems like UBoot if looking for files in /boot.

I ended up using the Lenny tarball found here (which included a kernel) and got the OS to boot.
