Firstly thank you to one and all for all the help getting me this far, however, this 5 minute reboot is driving me :x and I cannot seem to get the kernel to upgrade

Have followed these instructions URL[/url:31f3c], but get the following errors when running the /usr/local/sbin/webinstaller-kernelinst.sh script:

/usr/local/sbin/webinstaller-kernelinst.sh: dpkg: command not found

Linkstation 2.6 kernel webinstaller

--> HG/HS with OpenLink
--> Will install into /

Starting downloads (truncation warnings and timouts resulting in error 404 can b
e ignored safely)...

--> Getting webinstaller... wget: error while loading shared libraries: cannot o

latest-webinstaller.tar.gz was either outdated and removed; or there was a serve
r problem.
--> Run this script again to address the problem; or try again later.

The bits that concern me are:

[b:31f3c]dpkg: command not found[/b:31f3c]

[b:31f3c]The wget errors.. its is worth noting that I cannot access the links to URL[/url:31f3c] from anywhere, however wget gives the same error even if I change the link to URL[/url:31f3c][/b:31f3c]

[b:31f3c]I cannot find md5sum anywhere on the system[/b:31f3c]

What am I missing ????

Thanks in advance
Stuart

hvkls.dyndns.org is down currently....but the script was designed to use our webspace here as a mirror.

this definitely is a wget/library problem..

have you installed the openlink-helper-package?

http://buffalo.nas-central.org/download/mirrors/hvkls.dyndns.org/latest-openlinkhelper.tar.gz[/url:a346b]

download it manually, transfer it to a share of the box, telnet to the box, change directory to the share (/mnt/share?)

and install it with

tar -C / -xzvf latest-openlinkhelper.tar.gz

wget is inside as far as i know.

i have no clue why you suffer this wget-shared library problem....worst case (if the above does not help) you have to reflash your box (but if you do you should do it directly after it is accessable via telnet.

which firmware updater are you using? the HS one or the HG one?

go to IRC...

Sorry if I seem dumb, but not sure what to do from here in the IRC:

[23:20] Connecting...
[23:20] Logging in...
[23:20] -- *** Looking up your hostname...
[23:20] -- *** Found your hostname, welcome back
[23:20] -- *** Checking ident
[23:20] -- *** No identd (auth) response
[23:20] Error : Closing Link: 127.0.0.1 (Connection Timed Out)
[23:20] Disconnected from irc.freenode.net

But in answer to your question using the Flash tool found at:

http://www.unet.univie.ac.at/~a0025690/development/hs-glan_149_telnet.zip[/url:0cec0]

Trying to flash HS-D300GL

Thanks
Stuart

have you only flashed the HG-image.dat but the HS-firmimg.bin?

try the HG firmware updater...does it find your box?

can you access the box at all via browser/shares/telnet?

you NEED to update to HG-OpenLink....the wget problem is related to that.

you have the 5 minute reboot problem with the telnet enabled HS-firmware? this is the first time i hear this.

as long as your box is accessable you do not have a brick....

possibly ap_servd isn`t running.

post the output of "ps aux"

if you get ppc_uartd running as well you should suffer the watchdog problem anymore.

Uptime now reported as 25 mins, without ppc_uartd running, however have started this... Both are listed in the /etc/init.d directory to start so I am not sure why they don't... But if I have to start them manually after reboots then so be it.

Going to bed now with a sense of satisfaction... A very BIG thank you goes out to you for all your help.

possibly there are some pid-files in /var/run that need to be deleted manually?
