hi ppl.
i have a ls-qvl\e that was running well for a few years.
recently it started playing up after some power outages.
now its not working properly.
blue light flashes most of the time.
hd green lights go out, and then red light below comes on.
cant login with web gui.
can only see device on nas nav once the green lights
have all gone off.
its shows it to be in EM mode.
i am trying to decide which way to go to repair it??
should i pull the drives and try to recover data & how - got a spare win 7 pc
how can i repair/update firmware? i assume that is the problem

try to rescue your data

put all 4 drives and a cdrom on a pc

boot from this cd:
Knoppix boot cd
http://www.knopper.net/knoppix-mirrors/

Code:
apt-get install mdadm xfsprogs smartmontools mc

cat /proc/partitions

find the 4 drives with partition 6
modify the entry
sd[bcde]6
in the following command

Code:

cat /proc/mdstat

mdadm --assemble /dev/md0 /dev/sd[bcde]6

xfs_repair /dev/md0

mkdir /tmp/test

mount /dev/md0 /tmp/test

mc /tmp/test
