Help!!

Buffalo Linkstation Live 500GB, model HS-DH500GL
Computer: Dell Vostro 1500, Windows XP / Ubuntu (dual boot).

- Initially, my NAS share and web admin stopped working.
- i Followed steps on buffalotech.com to install new firmware. Downloaded latest firmware and lsupdater software for the above model (HS-DHGL_221-083_NEW)
- I ran the lsupdater program as is. At first the transfer was going very quickly (70MB out of 118MB) in 20 seconds. Then all of a sudden, it started running very slowly (1MB every 5-10s).
- After finishing, i got ACP_State_Failure
- reviewed web forums. Recommended to 'force' firmware update via the "debug" option by setting the debug flag in the LSupdater.ini file.
[SpecialFlags] Debug = 1
- I ran the lsupdater program with the force flag set. Result same as above
- Tried a thrid time, but this time the lsupdater program froze after clicking update. No network traffic, nothing. Had to kill the process.
- then i found this web forum where I downloaded the ACP_Commander from this website.
- i tried running the ACP_Commander file to clear the boot directory, but I got the following result which doesnt look like it worked.

C:\DELL> java -jar acp_commander.jar -t 192.168.11.150 -cb
ACP_commander out of the nas-central.org (linkstationwiki.net) project.
Used to send ACP-commands to Buffalo linkstation(R) LS-PRO.

i tried running the lsupdater, but same result as before
Then i tried telnet with the intent to follow one of the procedures to delete/replace the files manually

C:\DELL>java -jar acp_commander.jar -t 192.168.11.150 -o
ACP_commander out of the nas-central.org (linkstationwiki.net) project.
Used to send ACP-commands to Buffalo linkstation(R) LS-PRO.

You can now telnet to your box as user 'root' providing no / an empty password.

C:\DELL>telnet 192.168.11.150

still, nothing works. lsupdater does the same thing where it freezes after i click update.

Any help at this point would be great!
thanks,

I was having the same error last night, but it turned out I was a n00b initially and filled the boot partition.

I've read somewhere that with the latest firmware, the procedure for rooting has changed.

Here. Taken from thread : viewtopic.php?f=39&t=21685

Quote:
Regarding the acp_commander ... Buffalo has changed the handling of its ACP protocol. You now need to authenticate with the WebUI admin account in order to send commands. In the former versions a standard password was sufficient. You can get this functionality with the acp_commander if you use its change-ip option and "change" the ip to the current one. If you don't provide the password as parameter you should be asked for it.
You should ad the -ip and possibly -pw options, see --help for details.

java -jar acp_commander.jar -t <linkstation-ip> -o -addons -ip <new-ip> -pw <password>

Latest version of acp_commander

SOLVED!

Thanks so much to the Linkstation Wiki community

Thanks, The new ACP_Commander worked!
Tried many times to reload the flash after clearing out the directory. Every time, i got the same ACP_State_Failure.

I ended up deleting all of the files out of the /boot directory, booting up and get the ERROR blinking red light and sound.
I then followed the instructions on how to revive the NAS from scratch. Worked like a charm!

http://buffalo.nas-central.org/index.php/Revive_your_arm9_box_from_scratch

Now i can see all of my data again!!
Thanks again.
