Hello,

As you know, we have been doing some work to improve our site and the services on our site. As timtimred mentioned, powweb has been giving us serious problems (i.e. 500 internal service errors, slowness, etc). We have moved the wiki over to a new server. Today, we have planned to move over the forums. We will try to handle this as quickly as possible, and users should not see nearly as long of downtime as our last maintenance (we are not changing software here :) ). We anticipate that it will take about an hour to move over the forum. The rest of the downtime will be due to DNS propogation, as we conduct the requisite changes in our nameservers.

Thanks for the patience and cooperation. :)

The forum is now moved over. You guys should experience some speed enhancements too.

We will periodically be fixing up bugs, i.e. search, but otherwise, the move is complete. :)

Thanks for the patience.

IMHO, the forum is a lot faster than it used to. But maybe I'm biased :lol:

Hello guys,

Well, as you know, the main stuff for the forums is complete. However, we have a list of relatively minor stuff (i.e. adding mods) to do. Flavoie will be conducting most of the mod work. I will be periodically upgrading the software until rc1 is released. This will be done on the weekends, and flavoie will announce what mods he will be testing, and we'll announce during the week if any changes that will require a site shutdown. None of this work is expected to last longer than 30 minutes or so.

On Friday, we will be conducting forum maintenance to fix some remaining/new bugs. This is intended to be short and periodic. Please bear with us :)

Hello All,

It is time for the weekend maintenance of the server as was announced. Today, we will be upgrading the forums to Phpbb3 RC1, which is extremely important, as it is now supported by the Support Team at phpbb.com. Please be patient with the periodic downtime.

Regards

By the way, I installed the German language pack. I'm not sure if it works fully yet, but it may be enough for now. There wasn't a German imageset for subsilver2, but I tested it a bit, and the words to appear to be German, so ...

You'll notice also a US language pack. That's not correct, it's the British still. Not that it's a big deal, but in case you guys were wondering. :D

Goat and I installed a few mods today, per peoples request. They are:

* Posts Anywhere 0.3.1
* Full Syndication Suite 0.9.3b
* Quick Reply 0.1.3
* A custom [IMG] bbcode to force thumbnail behavior for remote images, just like was in minibb.
* Additional 3 smilies from minibb that were some favorites (i.e. :up: , :finger: , :biglol: )

None of the Mods are stable releases, and they won't be until phpbb3 moves to gold status.

Future work on the TODO List includes:
* Re-skinning the index page of the forums.
* Using Posts Anywhere MOD for posting forum links on the wiki frontpage.
* Implementing some topic icons from minibb.

Please let us know if more features should be added. Please note, we'd prefer to keep the modifications to a minimum, until phpbb3 is Final.

NOTE: We need volunteers to help carry out the TODO list.

Over all it looks nice, I've had a fun day helping along. :geek: (with what i could)

The icons from the old forums look good, maybe the banner from there would be good as well? Unless there are newer designs that someone can put together ;)
