no problem :)

i will open my LS Pro v1 and the LS Pro v2 and create some high res pics

one big picture would be cool from front and rear which shows the position of the smaller images...like they did here:
http://www.google.com/translate?u=http% ... en&ie=UTF8

thats what i liked most about the article there.

how big are the differences? i suppose this only works on v2 hardware which is similar to the Kurobox pro?

Not sure what you meant, my mod was done on a v1 LS pro box.

That was the reason that I have to make changes compare to the original Japanese article.

great work dommer.

we surely will enhance this nice wiki article to reflect the differences between v1 and v2 hardware...so the mod can be applied on both.

thx for documenting this. i ll link it on the mainpage.

This is well documented. When I am back I will do the same with my KURO.

You mind to do a temperature test (with your finger?) on the CPU (like after running for 30 minutes) to see if the CPU is touchable, if you can do a comparison on the temperature difference of the CPU before and after the upgrade?

Where is the link for overclcoking? Will it require an Xtal Oscillator replacement? Sorry for not digging hard enough.

original source for kurobox pro, so also for the (LS Pro/LS Live) v2 hardware:
http://www.google.com/translate?u=http% ... en&ie=UTF8

rewritten for (LS Pro/LS Live) v1 hardware
http://buffalo.nas-central.org/index.ph ... tation_Pro

TODO:
1) verify for a kuro pro/ v2 LS Pro/v2 LS Live
2) add infos with pics about differences between v1 and v2 hardware regarding overclocking.

Just two questions.

Is the overdrive on the CPU (Bogomips) worth the trouble?

What is the best wattage on the soldering iron for SMT components?

The stock CPU temp is not that hot. You can touch it okay. I will check the power usage too once I have done this.

A temp controlled iron is the best with temp above 350. The hotter the better as the solder will be instantly melted thus reducing the risk of heat damage as the iron does not need to be kept on the device. Avoid 15w irons as they will not get hot enough.

The temperature on the CPU is relatively hot after the overclock, with the heat sink on (as you can see in the picture), It is touchable, but I cannot hold my finger on it for more than 30 seconds, after the LS been up for 30 minutes. Saying that, my LS has been up continuously for a week now, and has not miss a beat or any smoke coming out of it either.

It is your individual decision, as you can see in the bench mark figure, it has 20-25% performance improvement.

Have you tried running it with the fan on faster? If you adjust the heat settings you can get the fan spinning a lot quicker to keep it cooler. Sounds like it is not an issue as you have not had any problems. Excessive heat can however reduce life as you are probably aware of. The heat sink will help big time to get rid of the heat from the core.

here my experience with heatsinks that i gathered from overclocking my athlon xp 2200+ to a 3200+ :D

heatsinks have to be hot. it shows that they work. if they are cool then they are either unnecessary or not properly installed.

as yours is hot it definitely is recommended to add a heatsink when overclocking. running at higher fanspeed also is a good idea.

lb_worm....could micro_evtd feature some sort of overclock mode regarding fan speed?
