Hi I have a linkstation ch500l the drive failed with lots of twanging noises.
So I have fitted a new one (500gb seagate) and now it boots as far as a flashing red light. 6 Flashes according too the manual means 6 flashes - Hard Drive not recognized.
I can hear the drive spin up ok initially and the light is blue it then starts to flash red.

I have tried to get it into EM Mode mode but no luck that I am aware I have run TFTP Boot Recovery and BUFFALO NAS Navigator2 but nothing found
Not sure what too try next other than the bin :(

The model is LS-CH500L-EU
I put the pc on the 192.168.11 range and the range the nas was on before of 192.168.2.*
I used
TFTP Boot Recovery LS-CHL 1.06.exe

I am not sure which switch tells it too tftp boot ?

ok

tftp 1.43
http://www.mediafire.com/?r4ee4fkpv57ovd7

get that

set your pc to 192.168.11.1
run the tftp server 1.43

turn the nas on
when the light flashes red
press the button on the front so it starts flashing blue
when it comes up in em mode

run my 1.37mod1 or 1.43 mod1a
right click on the top left corner
and goto debug
tick rebuild partition table untick everything else apart from do not check version
click ok
click update

it will then fix it

ok
use the tftp 1.06 you had

ftp://24.153.165.234/array1/share/nas-recovery/TFTP%20Boot%20Recovery%20LS-CHL%201.06.exe

and get

http://www.buffalo-technology.com/suppo ... L_1.12.zip

when you unzip it

LSUpdater.ini you need to add

[specialflags]
debug = 1

at the bottom

so your can repartition it

Well thank you for your time on this it is now up and running. Very much appreciated.
Wondering if it would be worth installing some of the custom firmware that seems to be about

To me it doesn't matter, with the production system I've a running (twonky-)system. Just wanted to report my experience with 4.0.11 here. Guess I'll continue testing with the next published version. :p
