Thanks for the tips. Can i update my freelink to lenny?
I have seen some users here which apparently have lenny running on their mips-boxes.
My LS Pro is arm-based and I have not yet upgraded to lenny so I cannot help you on that topic.

If i see it correct there is only Java 1.4.2 available for MIPS Linux Systems. But what Version is the correct one?
Quote:
MIPS Linux - Headless (Early Access)
glibc2.3.2, Big Endian
glibc2.2.5, Little Endian
glibc2.3.2, Little Endian
Again, I don't have a mips-based box so I can only guess: Little Endian at least, and for your current glibc version you could query apt-get/aptitude.
But that 1.4.2 version should be the last resort only - if you can't find anything better!
If you just need an jre (and you don't want to upgrade to lenny), then maybe this is something for you:
http://packages.debian.org/etch-backports/sun-java6-jreSee
http://www.backports.org for more information.
EDIT: The backport-jre-package does NOT seem to be "headless" so I don't know whether it will run well on the very limited linkstation.

This is only evaluation Software. Isnt Java free anymore?
Those SE versions for embedded use are special...only Sun knows why.
