I've tried Mediatomb out and really like its database tree editor. It works really well for me on as many picture (jpeg, etc.) files as I add.

The only problem I've seen is that when I get above about 2000 songs/mp3 files, the mediatomb.db database file (sqlite3) starts ballooning and takes long for it to process. It looks to me that the problem is that the builtin import layout accesses so much info from the id3 tags in so many mp3 files, it overwhelms the NAS's processor.

Has anyone in the community experimented w/ using a custom import layout in import.js? (yes, this requires libijs support) If so, could you please post your import script?
