Hi, I'm trying to compile the Asterisk SoftPBX on my LinkstationII (MIPS) - well it *might* work!.

I'm nearly there - but have finally been stumped by the following compilation error:

cc1: error: bad value (mips) for -march

Does anyone know what this means?

Thanks

Craig

Hi,

I tried out your guide for the asterisk.
I encountered the samae problem for the GSM.
The reason for the error is that the GCC does not recognize"mips" as a valid option for "-march" .Valid options are like mips1, mips2 etc.
I tried hardcoding it to "4kc" (got this from linkstation hardware info for MiPSEL), unfortunately there are still some compile errors for the assembler part.

If you wish to switch 1 trouble for another, use the debil script
to upgrade to debian. Then install debian's pre-compiled asterisk package
for mips.

I haven't done it myself; i have an HG, but it's something worth to consider.

Hi,

I have managed to fully compile and run Asterisk 1-2-11 with GSM codecs. I had to edit the Makefile in the Codecs/GSM directory to accept Mips after finding some help on here : -

Link to Makefile diff for a Mipsel against a standard build

I strip out all other processor types leaving just a 'mips' reference and presto, I now have voicemail and prompts!

If you would like a copy of the actual file, please let me know.

I'm now working on MusicOnHold problem with external player.

Hi,

has somebody managed to attach an ISDN-Interface to the LS2, and still running OpenLink ?
I would like to build Asterisk, but can't manage to connect an USB-ISDN Adapter sucessfully.

Any suggestions/comments ?

Hi,

I only just finished working on the GSM Codecs Makefile last night (late) and the quality seem ok. Haven't checked the cpu usage as my work has got in the way of my playing today.

I have sent my GSM Codecs Makefile to Mindbender but I want to work on it to put back the orginal optimization for other processor types back in not just for a Mipsel processor.

I haven't tried an ISDN-Interface, I'm just working with a Sipura 3000 to interface to my PSTN.
