every usb-printer should work as it passes the connection to the printer only through.....the printer driver ha to be installed on the client-desktop from where you want to print...

i think (!) every printer would work.

I think the LS only supports printers that support postscript. However, I am totally unfamiliar with PS and don't know if every printers with USB support that. My Epson C4x is working very fine.

Unless you use a filter (some are installed under the term "Mac"), the LS's printer spooler just hands down to the printer whatever it gets as input. It behaves like a GDI/host based printer, which means the printing computer must have the suiting printer driver installed. This, however, does not mean you could connect any USB printer. HP All-in-One devices, for example, need a special driver for the USB system to recognize them. Most printers should work fine though.

I have found that if you connect the printer to the PC first via the USB and install the special drivers you can then move it to the LS and the drivers still operate okay - set in raw mode from the PC. But the setup at the LS end is slightly differenet!

hello again,
now i have a "hp 1200 psc all in one"

is anybody out there who knows how to use this at the linkstation usb?

i have access to the printer from my pc, the driver is installed and the jobs i create were sent to the printer (the status printer window on my pc shows that).

but the linkstation/printer doesn't print out the pages. sometimes the printer status window on my pc tells me that a job is printed, sometimes the printing doesn't start.
what is wrong?

on Linkstation I have
- printversevr enabled
- printer type "postscript" because there is no other than epson

what settings can i use for the hp "all in one" printers?
can i use the scanner, too?

can someone help?

thanks

Same question here for a all-in-one Epson RX700 ...

i use the same options like testy with a Brother laserprinter it it works. there are no other options to check....

maybe its a problem because it is an "all in one" printer with the normal firmware?

i only heard of scanning and printing over a all in one device with debian. i don`t think that the all in one functionality will be possible with original-firmware/openlink.

hello again,

yesterday evening i have printed the first two pages with the settings i have posted and one modification!

on the pc in the printer settings i have changed to "Druckaufträge direkt zum Drucker leiten" (kein Spooler). (send printer jobs directly to the printer)

now it works.
(yesterday i have had an printer error after printing an excel sheet, don't know why)

p.s. does anyone now if it is possible to use the scanner?

testy
