Hiya,

When I try to upgrade to the uboot listed at http://downloads.buffalo.nas-central.or ... ecompiled/ , I get the following:

Code:
=> run upgrade
run upgrade
Loading 0:3:share/u-boot/u-boot-v2-mips.flash.bin
Error (no IRQ) dev 0 blk 469228449: status 0x51
 ** ext2fs_devread() read error **

** Unable to read "share/u-boot/u-boot-v2-mips.flash.bin" from ide 0:3 **

I've verified that hda3 is in fact ext3 formatted and it contains such a file in share/u-boot

I tried also doing this from linux:
Code:
root@athena:/mnt/hda/share/u-boot# dd if=u-boot-v2-mips.flash.bin of=/dev/mtd0 bs=1k
dd: writing `/dev/mtd0': Input/output error
1+0 records in
0+0 records out
0 bytes (0 B) copied, 0.008516 seconds, 0.0 kB/s

Any ideas?

try andre's flashinstaller, it'll try and install uboot and foonas-em if you'r ROM chip is compatible ( http://hvkls.dyndns.org/downloads/tmp/flashinstaller.sh )

Otherwise flash to mtdblock0 not mtd0

I should be clear, I'm already running Debian Lenny and don't want to go elsewhere.

Can I just edit that script to remove the Foonas install bit?

It's foonas-em

An emergency mode, better than the linkstations original that will enable you to fix your system if it breaks.

http://foonas.org/index.php/Category:Foonas-em

It won't touch your Lenny(?) install as it resides in flash
