I'd like to update the kernel running on LS-II because of some changes necessary for my project.
I went through the bootloader and written the the Information/MIPSelBootLoader topic,
so I'm on a highway to replace the kernel. I just wanted to ask whether somebody else is trying to do the same.

I still intend to use "monte" because I don't want to reflash the firmware. Monte allows us to boot the normal kernel and then have it replaced without writing anything into the flash.

But I still hope that someone else tries this first on the PPC Linkstation because monte on mips is quite new.

Hehe, monte for mips is initially dated back to 2002 thanks to TiVo folks. Anyway, I'll certainly try monte first. After that, I'd still like to be able to swap the kernel. It shouldn't be that dangerous, the bootloader should itself (which I'm not going to replace) should be able to recover through TFTP even w/o working kernel in mtd1 (At least that's the case for IdtBoot on which LS-II loader is obviously based).
I'll analyze the bootloader more though, to be really sure.
In the mean time, I have managed to get to the content of the embedded ramdisk and also created a .config that (I believe) accurately match the one used for building factory kernel.
Where can I get official firmware version 2.11? I know only about 2.05EN and 2.22JA, but I have sources for 2.11. Or at least I'd like to have any other matching pair of source and binary.
(I'd like to be sure about few details that seems to be different. E.g. my original 2.02 has mtd0..mtd2, while sources for 2.11 define mtd0..mtd3)
