OK, this feels kinda noobish.. but here goes..

buffalo terastation pro 2
joined to AD - which took forever..

-------
now my question..

I create the shares through the web interface, and I create subdirectories in the shares using explorer.. but when I try to set permissions on the subdirs it fails .. I've tried giving all kinds of access controls, no access controls, etc.. and still no go..

am I just overlooking something ??? i've searched everywhere and can't find a single post about this issue, maybe my brain is on fart mode ...

I need to set permissions through windows so the admin users can set their own permissions... 5-10 levels deep.
I would hate to have to teach someone linux commands and have them telnet in to set dir. perms...

any help is appreciated...

sorry about the wrong section..

but here is the reply from buffalo ..

"That will not be possible at this time. We have requested for the
engineers to do ACL's deeper than the share directory level. Look back
around the end of March. We are hoping to have a firmware update that
will incorporate this function."

so lame .. my buddy and I might try and hack this feature in.. we'll see..

Hi all,

Do you now if this feature has been implemented ?

We are also in an AD environment, using a Linkstation Pro Duo, and we need to create a main directory named "Share", and in it, we want to create one subdirectory per user, and we want to be sure that only the user can access to its subdirectory.

Edit : hum, I don't know why I'm not in the correct forum section... sorry about that

... is this still not possible? I also need to create a "shares" folder and have one subfolder for each user.
