Hey Guys,

I got my NAS all fired up (finally!) this morning with 4 2TB WD Green drives. I'll be xfering data this weekend and hopefully the low power/random read/5900rpm on the drives don't cause any issues. I had two already so it was cost efficient just to get two more - but I digress.

The wiki worked great after I understood what had to be done. Because of the 1.5TB limit on the arrays I have 4 naturually, but I didn't want to sym link them from a share in MD1 or MD2 so I can better understand where I put my data in my Windows Shares. So to get around this, instead I altered the smb.conf to create the shared for MD3 and MD4. What I found however was that this addition was being removed on restart, similar to why we need to shell executable at reboot to re-create our arrays in the mdadm.conf file.

So all I did was append my code onto the end of the restart_my_array.sh and it works! Here it is if anyone wants to use this method. Again, I just appended this code onto the end of the restart_my_array.sh so no other changes need to be made other than manually creating the directories you want to share from. You can see what I named mine in the code snippet below.

Code:
echo "--RECREATE SAMBA SHARE FOR MD3--"
        echo '[ARRAY3]' >> /etc/samba/smb.conf
        echo 'comment = ARRAY3' >> /etc/samba/smb.conf
        echo 'path = /mnt/array3/ARRAY3' >> /etc/samba/smb.conf
        echo 'browsable = yes' >> /etc/samba/smb.conf
        echo 'printable = no' >> /etc/samba/smb.conf
        echo 'writable = yes' >> /etc/samba/smb.conf
        echo 'valid users = admin,Devin,@admin' >> /etc/samba/smb.conf
        echo 'force create mode = 666' >> /etc/samba/smb.conf
        echo 'force directory mode = 777' >> /etc/samba/smb.conf
        echo 'vfs object = /usr/lib/samba/abs_audit_buffalo.so' >> /etc/samba/smb.conf
        echo '###ARRAY3###' >> /etc/samba/smb.conf
echo "--RECREATE SAMBA SHARE FOR MD4--"
        echo '[ARRAY4]' >> /etc/samba/smb.conf
        echo 'comment = ARRAY4' >> /etc/samba/smb.conf
        echo 'path = /mnt/array4/ARRAY4' >> /etc/samba/smb.conf
        echo 'browsable = yes' >> /etc/samba/smb.conf
        echo 'printable = no' >> /etc/samba/smb.conf
        echo 'writable = yes' >> /etc/samba/smb.conf
        echo 'valid users = admin,Devin,@admin' >> /etc/samba/smb.conf
        echo 'force create mode = 666' >> /etc/samba/smb.conf
        echo 'force directory mode = 777' >> /etc/samba/smb.conf
        echo 'vfs object = /usr/lib/samba/abs_audit_buffalo.so' >> /etc/samba/smb.conf
        echo '###ARRAY4###' >> /etc/samba/smb.conf

Happy NAS'ing everybody!
