Hi Guys

I've been using a Terastation Live with 4 x 2TB HDDs which has been working for quite a while other than the read/write speed. After seeing the prices of the HP Microserver N54L (£100 after cashback) I've decided to buy one and move my drives to that. I'm planning on running Ubuntu Server on the HDD that comes with it and installing the 4 x 2TB HDDs from the TS. Is it possible to mount the RAID 5 array in Ubuntu without having to format the drives and creating a new array? If so can anyone point me in the right direction?

The terastation does use partitioning/format/raid identical to the one embedded to your Ubuntu server (as the terastation is also a Linux OS).
So if you configure your Ubuntu server to handle Software RAID, and the disk format (XFS), you should be able to mount the old Terastation disk onto the Ubuntu server.
There is some web pages on the Internet that describe restoring of Terastation disk by connecting them to a Linux server (sorry I can't remember what link).
I hope I correctly understood what you were looking for,
