in the tarball is just about everything one could want... except for a u-boot that wasn't built with the "Tiny" flag ... the u-boot that Buffalo installed on our LS-Pro's seems to be a stripped-down, minimal version...

A couple of observations/questions:

1. It would be nice to have a version w/ a "run" command and netconsole access... hmmmm... ?

2. Is the "u-boot" executable that is in the tarball actually a ram-build of u-boot? if so has anyone tested it?

3) jonli447 built it and flashed it to his LS Pro. It worked.

no mods tried so far.

it would be nice if it was just a question of removing the "tiny" flag , to get a full(er) featured uboot ... looks like a risky flash though...

any chance he flashed it while in 2.6, or did he flash it from the u-boot environment? we know flashing from 2.6 didn't work in the 2.6 kernel from last year, but maybe the drivers have changed since then... ?

actually i do not know how he flashed it. also do not forget that you cannot compare the lsarm boxes and the ppc boxes as the arm-boxes use a nand flash which is something different.

I'm thinking/remembering (hopefully correctly) that the kuropro has NAND and NOR, the lspro NOR only.
...so these both have 256kb NOR, right?

...to bad they don't have a healthy 4MB NOR /ROM that the HG's had...

It was flashed from uboot. This is the safest way to do it.

thanks, I was kind figuring that's how he did it, but at the same time I was hoping to hear that he had done it from within 2.6 (while booted).

the u-boot that comes stock is just not very flexible for my needs ... would be nice to have a non-serial access way to alter boot behavior and such....

1. Does anyone know if the uboot source that jonli posted is for the pro V1 or the pro V2, or do they use the exact same source (w/just a tweaked makefile)?

-which I compiled a few weeks back... was for the LS Pro V2.

Is this not the case? 1.10.8 vs 1.12.1 ?

maybe what I compiled was indeed for the v2?

2. Will the v2's uboot work in a v1? We know from unfortunate FreeLink flashers that the V1 uboot doesn't sit well w/ the V2 boxes.

Has anyone looked into what the differences are between the two uboot versions? Is it just some env vars? or is something hard-coded in?

can you please try to compile a v2 uboot from the sources we have?

i just looked again and there are no uboot sources in the gpl packages....my guess again is that uboot wasn`t touched by the buffalo guys and that marvell actually ported it again.

i only found this package here:

do we have newer uboot sources for the arm9 boxes somewhere?

btw NAiL works on qnap ts uboot....doesn`t he also have a kurbox pro?

yes, and for all I know, what I compiled may indeed be a v2 Uboot...

The package you mention that jonli447 put in downloads ( http://downloads.nas-central.org/LSPro_ ... 109.tar.gz ) is the only source we have, AFAIK. When I talked w/ him in the IRC briefly a week or so ago, it sounded to me like he was saying that there was more source out there, be we may not have understood each other... :?:

right, there are now uboot sources in the GPL stuff, only kernel source & other...

i request newer gpl sources. i actually request them for the Linkstation Pro DUO which should use the latest uboot sources.

Yes, that is the one. It has been tested (flashed) and it works. I was not brave enough to do that without JTAG or being able to RAM test it.

I will try turning on more Uboot commands on it when I get home from work tonight...

It was surprising to see that when I did so with the buff109 source (older UBoot source gpl from buff) the size of the uboot didn't seem to increase. I wonder if there is some code in the buff uboot stuff that is padding uboot out to a certain size. ???

now checking it, they are all 240.0 KB (245776 bytes), even the ones that I altered the source for.
