a question for the linux guru's around here.

A question I have is about shared object library of PHP. Its used by apache amongst others.
Now I compiled several versions of PHP with different options and so each with its own shared object library.
However with increasing the options the size of as well PHP as it shared object library goes up drastically and they give problems at booting the NAS (probably runs at of memory). What I tried is loading a different PHP shared object file in apache and kept the original php binary on the NAS (so the new PHP binary is not present) Apache seems to work fine as well as the webgui. So the scripts to setup the nas and modify settings will use the good old PHP and apache the new shared object library

So my question, will this work without causing problems, so far I can not find a problem everything works fine.
